With the promise of enhancing connectivity where it truly matters, the government continues to double down on opening roadways that link various towns, cities, and communities to hubs of commerce and economic trade.
This, as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the inauguration of the Cavite Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Subsection 3 on Monday—a 7.88 km stretch of road that connects the Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange to Governor’s Drive Interchange in General Trias City.
Construction of the 2×2 toll road began in January 2024 and was completed on April 30, 2026, with a total cost of P4.196 billion.
The newly-opened CALAX segment is expected to reduce travel time between Biñan, Laguna and General Trias City, Cavite to approximately 26 minutes (from 1 hour), decongest Governor’s Drive and Aguinaldo Highway in Cavite, and ease mobility for 6,000 vehicles on a daily basis.
Overall, the three segments of CALAX are expected to link the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Kawit, Cavite to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Mamplasan, Laguna.
President Marcos Jr. said of the inaugurated toll road, “I’m sure mararamdaman natin ang mas mabilis at mas maginhawang pagbiyahe.”
The Chief Executive concluded his remarks by announcing a one-month toll-free passage for motorists passing through CALAX Subsection 3. (with report from Sheila Natividad | PTV News)
