President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has concluded his four-day working trip to Osaka, Japan, which he touted as ‘productive’, as he arrived in the Philippines on Sunday, June 22.
“I have just returned from a productive working visit to Osaka, Japan, where we secured new opportunities that will create jobs, bring in investments, and help improve the lives of Filipinos,” President Marcos said in a statement upon his return.
During his brief stint, the Chief Executive attended the World Expo 2025 following an earlier invitation by Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba during the latter’s visit to the country in April.
“At the World Expo 2025, I was proud to see how our Philippine Pavilion highlights the best of who we are. It tells the world the story of a nation rich in culture, driven by innovation, and committed to building a sustainable and inclusive future. This strengthens our standing as a destination for tourism, partnership, and investment,” the President said.
He hailed the vital role of the Philippine Pavilion as a vital conduit in promoting the country’s cultural heritage on the global stage, as well as enticing prospecting investors, tourists, and business proprietors to consider the Philippines as a destination for tourism, trade, and investment.
Forging partnerships
“Kanadevia Corporation will partner with Phil. Ecology Systems Corp. is on a waste-to-energy project that will help manage waste while generating clean energy. Tsuneishi Group will build the world’s first methanol dual-fueled KAMSARMAX bulk carrier in Cebu, creating jobs and positioning the Philippines as a leader in green shipping,” President Marcos announced such fruitful investments which were produced during his meeting with key officials from some Japanese firms.
As part of his itinerary, the Chief Executive also met with key officials from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), further deepening the relationship of both countries in advancing space exploration and technology vis-à-vis disaster monitoring, support for farmers, and enhanced community safety.
Meanwhile, the President concluded his visit to the East Asian nation by spending time with the Filipino community in Japan, whom he cites as the bearers of “dignity, professionalism, and compassion that continue to bring pride to our nation”.
