President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. left Washington, D.C. to return to Manila following his historic meeting with the United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump.

Marcos left at 4:42 p.m. on Tuesday (U.S. Time), the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) told reporters Wednesday.

The President embarked on a three-day official visit to the U.S. upon Trump’s invitation.

During his visit, President Marcos met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and officials from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He also met with business leaders in the U.S.

He wrapped up his visit with a meeting with Trump at the Oval Office in the White House, becoming the first Southeast Asian head of state to meet with the American leader since securing his second term in January.

Both leaders tackled trade and defense during their bilateral meeting.

The Chief Executive will return to the country as the majority of Luzon and parts of Visayas continue to experience heavy rains due to the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) that has already triggered widespread flooding and class suspensions. (PNA)
