PBBM’s Brussels trip to yield investments, jobs

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s engagements on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – European Union (ASEAN-EU) Commemorative Summit are expected to generate more investments and jobs for Filipinos, a foreign affairs official said Friday, Dec. 9. 

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary Daniel Espiritu said in a pre-departure briefing that Marcos will meet next week with the business community and firms eager to expand in the Philippines.

He is also set to discuss trade and investment policy during a business roundtable with European corporations. There will also be networking among Filipino and European business owners.

“Hopefully, for this networking, the Filipino businessmen will be able to come up with deals with their European counterparts,” Espiritu said.

“He will be meeting with Unilever. And this is important because this corporation is intending to establish a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for personal care products in Cavite, so expansion of investments to the tune of P4.7 billion,” Espiritu continues, adding that this will generate 130 jobs.

Marcos is also expected to meet with a shipbuilding and navigation and logistics company to enhance a shipyard worth P1.5 billion that will make 500 to 600 direct and indirect jobs.

He will also meet European Union officials as part of the ASEAN-EU dialog partnership relations.

The chief executive is also expected to meet with a wholesale market and international logistics hub management company, as well as a one-on-one meeting with an infrastructure and renewable energy company.  -ag
