By Katrina Gracia Consebido

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Tuesday, Nov. 22, went through intensive preparation for the arrival of United States (US) Vice President Kamala Harris for her scheduled Palawan visit.

The PCG Special Operations Group conducted a diving inspection around BRP Teresa Mangbanua (MRRV-9701) at the Puerto Princesa, Palawan Port before the vice president’s boarding for a vessel tour in the disputed West Philippine Sea.

According to PCG, the inspection is vital to ensure the safety and welfare of Harris, all officers, as well as to maintain the security of the area.

All attending members of the US Navy and the PCG underwent mandatory inspection by the United States Secret Service before the arrival of Harris.

The PCG will also hold a briefing regarding the PCG’s current maritime operations in the island.  -ag
