The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) offered “libreng sakay” (free ride) to students on the first day of face-to-face classes on Monday, Aug. 22.

PCG Commandant CG Admiral Artemio Abu said the initiative aims to reduce the expenses of students at the start of the School Year 2022-2023.

Free bus rides started as early as 6:00 a.m. Students were picked up at Quezon City Hall and were dropped off at University Belt in España, Manila.

The “libreng sakay” will be until 7:00 p.m.

Filipino students returned to in-person classes on Monday two years after the COVID-19 pandemic forced schools to close.
