PCG rescues 11 ship passengers, crew in Siquijor

SAN JUAN, SIQUIJOR – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued 11 ship passengers and crew of a motorbanca that capsized off the vicinity waters of Barangay Cangmunag, San Juan, Siquijor yesterday, 16 November 2019.

Aside from the four (4) ship passengers and seven (7) crew, reports revealed that the motorbanca that departed from Dipolog City going to Masbate also carried eight (8) drums of diesel and 22 empty fuel drums.

Big waves brought by the heavy weather condition caused the motorbanca to capsize.
PCG personnel in Siquijor conducted the search and rescue (SAR) operation. After accounting all ship passengers and crew, PCG provided medical assistance until all rescued individuals were declared in good physical condition.

Meanwhile, the eight (8) drums of diesel were also recovered and now at Barangay Cangmunag for safekeeping.

PCG personnel in Siquijor continues to monitor the capsized motorbanca until its retrieval to prevent possible oil spill and/or damage to marine environment.
