The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued the captain and 22 members of a cargo vessel that capsized in the waters between Hinatuan island and Bucas Grande island in Surigao del Norte.

The LCTR PACIFICA 1 captained by Robert Espino was rescued on its way to Dapa Port in Surigao del Norte from Cabadbaran Port in Agusan del Norte.

According to Espino, they encountered around three-meter waves entering the engine room, causing engine trouble and steering problems.

MV Veronica found the capsized cargo vessel and rescued Espino and his 22 crew members.

Espino was treated and the 22 crew members were in good physical condition.
