PCG saves three fishermen who were afloat for three days

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) saved three fishermen whose boat broke down off the coast of Occidental Mindoro last May 8.

The FBCA Edgar’s engine failed near Lubang, Occidental Mindoro. The fishermen stayed afloat for three days before they were seen by the MS Charming cruise ship on May 6, which then contacted PCG to ask for help.

The PCG Station Occidental Mindoro immediately activated a search and rescue (SAR) team, but failed to reach the target vicinity waters due to unfavorable weather conditions.

On Saturday, the MS Charming safely turned over the rescued fishermen to the PCG SAR team. Upon arrival at Tilik Port in Lubang, the fishermen, who were uninjured, underwent a swab test and received other forms of assistance.
