PCOO chief named most outstanding media icon

MANILA — Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar was recognized as an outstanding media icon and broadcaster by the National Consumers Affairs Foundation (NCAF).

The NCAF awarded the communications chief during the 2019 People’s Choice Awards, which was jointly held with the Dangal ng Bayan Awards on Saturday in Quezon City.

In his speech, Andanar emphasized the importance of awards such as Dangal ng Bayan for realizing the “endless possibilities of human achievement.”

“Awards like these are very important because they let an awardee shine brighter. When a person shines he spreads the light to the people around him so they may see clearly the endless possibilities of human achievement,” Andanar said.

The PCOO chief also thanked NCAF head and civic leader-journalist Jake Navea for continuously recognizing hardworking and dedicated agents of change in the society.

Earlier, Andanar was awarded the Best Media Personality of 2018 by Manila-based broadsheet, Daily Tribune, for his role in promoting the policies and programs of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

Under Andanar’s leadership, the PCOO’s attached media agencies particularly People’s Television Network (PTV), Radyo ng Bayan, Radio-Television Malacañang (RTVM) and Philippine News Agency (PNA) have improved significantly in just less than two years.

Andanar was a multi-awarded television news executive, news anchor, radio commentator, podcaster, audio blogger and voice-over artist at TV5 prior to joining the Duterte administration.
