PCOO chief vows new equipment for Radyo Pilipinas in Calbayog

MANILA — Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar on Thursday assured new equipment for Radyo Pilipinas Calbayog in Samar, after seeing the old and obsolete equipment being used in the office.

“I will give you two brand new desktops, two microphones, two microphone stands, two headphones and one console. Ako ang personal na magdadala sa inyo (I will personally bring these to you). Babalik ako rito (I will be back here),” Andanar said during his visit to Calbayog City.

Andanar said he also plans to renovate the announcer’s booth of Radyo Pilipinas Calbayog.

Palalagyan ko rin ng foam ang dingding ng booth para mas maganda ang soundproofing (I’ll order the addition of foams in the corners of the booth for better soundproofing). Pagbalik ko, pag-aralan pa natin kung anu-anong improvement ang pwede pa nating gawin (Let us study other areas of improvement on my return here),” he said.

Andanar said part of the equipment to be given to the state-run radio station are donations from the Chinese government, through Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua.

Radyo Pilipinas Calbayog employees welcomed Andanar’s move.

Employees said Andanar is the first press secretary to visit their office after former Secretary Tomas “Buddy” Gomez, a native of the city and press secretary during the term of former president Corazon Aquino.

Andanar was in Calbayog City for the PCOO roadshow held at the Calbayog Convention Center.

Andanar, a former media practitioner himself, earlier said he will continue to strengthen the interest of the media through policies, media engagement, and media solutions.
