PCOO exec apologizes to Pacquiao for Facebook post

MANILA — Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Undersecretary and Spokesperson Lorraine Badoy on Tuesday apologized to Senator Manny Pacquiao for sharing on Facebook a photo of a house she claimed was owned by the senator’s mistress.

During the second Senate panel hearing on fake news, Badoy apologized after Pacquiao said she owed him an apology for spreading what he described as “fake news.”

It may be recalled that Badoy shared the photo on her personal Facebook account on February 2016.

Badoy admitted that she owed Pacquiao an apology but explained that she only made that post after the senator made a controversial comment about same-sex unions.

“What you said regarding LGBT community really, really hurts me,” Badoy told Pacquiao.

“We do affect each other very much so when you put hate out there, you’d better ready for that to come back,” she added, stressing that she was not saying it to excuse herself.

The PCOO spokesperson said that she was “very sincere” on her apology and was trying her best to take the hate out of her post.

Pacquiao, however, asked Badoy to “correct” her post to which she agreed to do.

“I accept your ‘sorry’. Who am I to put grievance against you? But I want you to correct that blog in your account,” Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao said that he thought of filing a case against Badoy but opted not to after “someone” convinced him not to. (PNA)
