PCSO: Peryahan Games not yet allowed

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said it has not yet allowed the operations of Peryahan Games amid reports on the illegal resumption of such games.

The PCSO said the government loses billions worth of income due to the illegal operation of Peryahan Games.

“Kailangan ‘yung resulta ng bola na lumalabas para maging legal siya ay ang nagbobola ay PCSO. Since hindi si PCSO ang bumobola, that makes the operation not legal,” PCSO General Manager Royina Garma said.

The PCSO has already called the attention of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to take action against Peryahan Games which was suspended in February 2020.

Garma is set to meet with PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos, together with the National Bureau of Investigation.

The PCSO is also coordinating with Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año regarding his alleged order to the PNP to stay away from the operations of Peryahan Games.

Meanwhile, the PCSO and the People’s Television Network (PTV) signed a memorandum of agreement to extend the airing of the Lotto draw results for two years.

Napakahalaga po nito dahil napakataas ng expectation ng gobyerno na tayo ay makalikom ng sapat na pondo para suportahan ang ating program,” Garma said.

“This is a better partnership because aside from airing the Lotto result, ipapakita rin natin yung other things na ginagawa ng PCSO, especially ‘yung kanilang advocacies,” PTV General Manager Kat de Castro said. – Report from Bea Bernardo/AG-rir
