PDEA agent, 2 other drug suspects killed in Laguna drug bust

SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna – An agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and two other suspected drug peddlers were killed in a shoot-out during a drug-buy bust operation around 5 a.m. on Wednesday inside the Kalibato Lake Resort Villa Reyes in this city.

City police chief, Supt. Hermogenes Cabe reported that the drug buy-bust operation was conducted in the resort in Sitio Biuyan, Barangay Santo Angel on Wednesday dawn.

In his report to Laguna Police Director Senior Supt. Kirby John B. Kraft, Cabe said the buy bust operation resulted in a shoot-out with the suspects who sensed they were dealing with an undercover police operative.

The suspects, who tried to escape during the gunfight, were identified as Wilbert Sardido and PDEA agent Reynaldo Dante who is on absent without official leave (AWOL). The two were killed inside the villa while the third male suspect, who is yet to be identified wearing a maroon shirt and faded jeans, sprawled at the grassy portion of the resort.

Recovered from the scene were a sachet of suspected shabu bought by the operative from Dante; six sachets of shabu recovered from the other suspects; three unknown caliber pistols; two PHP 1,000 bills used as buy-bust money, and undetermined amount of cash.(Saul Pa-a/PNA)
