PDEA, PNP arrest farmer for drug, gun possession in Maguindanao

DATU MIDTIMBANG, Maguindanao — Police and anti-narcotics agents arrested Friday a 26-year-old farmer in an anti-drug operation in Barangay Tulunan here.

Chief Supt. Graciano Mijares, police regional director for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), said agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-ARMM), backed by police and elements of the Army’s 90th Infantry Battalion, arrested Joemar Dalgan Kusain after he handed over a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer in the 6 a.m. operation.

Government forces also recovered a 9mm submachine gun from the suspect along with two mobile phones he used in drug transactions.

Mijares said the operation led to the recovery of some PHP13, 000 worth of illegal drugs.

Kusai is now detained at the municipal police lock up cell while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives). (PNA)
