The national government conducted a ceremonial vaccination on Monday (June 28) in Valenzuela City as the vaccination program marks the milestone for administering over 10 million COVID-19 vaccine doses nationwide.
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III led the vaccination in the city by vaccinating a 74-year-old resident.
Based on the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 and DOH’s data, as of June 27, a total of 10,065,414 doses have already been administered. 7,538,128 were received as first doses while 2,527,286 have been fully vaccinated.
The figure is equal to 5% from the targeted mass vaccination for population protection of 70-M individuals.
The total doses administered in the 17th week of the national vaccination program reached a record high of 1,658,072 doses.
The government is optimistic that the 500,000 doses daily average will be achieved next month. NTF Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. and NTF Deputy Chief Implementer Secretary Vince Dizon believe that the country will achieve population protection in 2021.
Meanwhile, the Philippines has received 249,000 doses of Moderna vaccine and 1-M doses of Sinovac on Monday morning.
