PH receives add’l 1-M Sinovac doses

An additional batch of one million Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac vaccine arrived in the country today (Aug. 5), bringing the total doses received by the country to 38.2 million.

Philippine Airlines Flight PR 359 carrying the government-procured vaccines arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 past 6:00 p.m.

The latest shipment is the third vaccine delivery this August, following the 415,000  AstraZeneca doses on August 2 from the United Kingdom (UK) government and 3,000,060 Moderna doses also donated by the United States through the COVAX Facility on August 3.

The Philippines is expecting 22.7 million doses this month, including those procured by the private sector.

To date, there are 22,488,705 administered doses in the country with over 10,282,152 individuals completing their jab or 14.69% of the targeted eligible population.

The highest daily vaccines administered was recorded on August 3 at 702,013 doses. – Report from Patrick de Jesus/AG-rir
