PH records highest daily case toll at 22,415

The Philippines has recorded its highest daily reported COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began at 22,415 on Monday (Sept. 6), bringing the total case count to 2,103,331. 

Based on DOH data, there are 159,633 active cases in the country, 1,909,361 recoveries including 20,109 that are new, and 34,337 fatalities.

Out of the total active cases, 92.1% are experiencing mild symptoms, 3.3% are asymptomatic, 0.6% are critical, 1.4% are severe, and 2.48% have moderate symptoms.

The nationwide hospital intensive care unit (ICU) utilization is at 76%, isolation beds at 66%, ward beds at 72%, and ventilators at 57%. Metro Manila has an ICU occupancy of 73% and ward beds utilization of 74%.

The DOH said eight laboratories were not able to submit data which contribute around 2.3% of all samples tested and positive individuals.

The health department urged the public to comply with minimum health standards as cases may still increase in the coming days.

Meanwhile, government health authorities on Monday confirmed that the Delta variant has been detected in all regions of the country, including the Bangsamoro region.

Based on the latest genome sequencing report, 279 of the 367 samples sequenced were detected with Delta variant, 29 cases with the Alpha variant, 28 cases with the Beta variant, 13 cases with the P.3 variant.
