PH takes home 3rd gold in Int’l Math Olympiad

MANILA — The Philippines on Friday won its third gold medal at the recently concluded 59th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

The gold medal was awarded to Albert John Patupat of De La Salle University Integrated School.

Three other Filipino participants won medals for the country at the 59th IMO.

Kyle Patrick Dulay of the Philippine Science High School – Main Campus won silver medal while Emmanuel Osbert Cajayon of Emilio Aguinaldo College and Shaquille Wyan Que of Grace Christian College both won bronze medals.

Meanwhile, Andres Rico Gonzales III of DLSU Integrated School and Sean Anderson Ty of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School both received honorable mention.

The 59th IMO, which ran from July 9 to 13, is the largest and most prestigious math contest for high school students worldwide. Only the most elite math students from each country participate in the competition. (Ma. Teresa Montemayor/PNA)
