In the face of omnipresent energy challenges on domestic and international shores, the Philippines will lead high-level talks as it pursues an energy agenda with resilience in mind.
As the incumbent ASEAN Chair, the country will host the 44th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM44) and its Associated Meetings from October 5 to 9, 2026 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
The timely dialogue of ASEAN delegates comes as the region grapples with the effects of geopolitical uncertainties with repercussions that reverberate across the globe, thus placing livelihoods, economies, and daily lives of people at stake.
AMEM44 provides the Philippines with an opportunity to champion regional cooperation and forge new ways forward to build an energy-secure future for the 11-member bloc.
It will include Senior Officials Meeting on Energy (SOME) Preparatory Meeting and relevant sessions with ASEAN Plus Three and East Asia Summit participating countries, providing energy ministers with a platform to champion regional connectivity and energy transition.
Among the priorities for the week-long meetings are as follows:
- ASEAN Power Grid
- ASEAN Framework Agreement on Petroleum Security
- ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation 2026–2030
Held in parallel with AMEM44, the 26th ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF-26) will bring together government, industry, investors, financial institutions, technology providers, and development partners to help translate regional priorities into partnerships and investible projects.
The Forum will feature policy dialogues, high-level roundtables, business engagements, and exhibitions on the ASEAN Power Grid, renewable energy, energy efficiency, financing, and investment.
Moreover, the Philippines will also host the 4th Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Ministerial Meeting, providing a further platform for cooperation on energy security and practical pathways toward decarbonization.
