PhilHealth expanded dialysis coverage eyed

Malacañang assured on Tuesday that the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) will immediately discuss and resolve the issue on the government’s free dialysis.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque disclosed that PhilHealth President and CEO Dante Gierran shared that he will push in the board meeting the expansion of the existing 90-session free dialysis coverage to 133 sessions per year.

Roque explained that there are limitations considering the imposition of state of calamity amid the threat of coronavirus. He somehow added that the government is now looking for other solutions.

“Bukod pa roon sa 133 na dialysis na sana po ay maaprubahan sa meeting ng board bukas ay magbibigay din ng ₱10,000 sa lahat ng mga nagpapa-dialysis ang PCSO [Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office] (Aside from the 133 dialysis sessions which we hope to be approved tomorrow, the PCSO will also give ₱10,000 to those undergoing dialysis),” Roque stated. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
