The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) will provide compensation for COVID-19 vaccinated individuals who will experience serious adverse events under the agency’s COVID-19 vaccine injury compensation package.
PhilHealth Vice President Shirley Domingo explained on Tuesday (June 29) the package is applicable for those who received their vaccination through the national program.
“This is on top of the ACR, the all case rate and it should also be on top of the benefits that they get if they have an HMI or HMO,” she added.
She said that the compensation package offers up to ₱100,000 for hospitalization and a lump sum of ₱100,000 for permanent disability or death which can be claimed by the primary beneficiaries who are the legal spouse or children of the principal while the secondary beneficiaries are the legitimate parents.
The agency added that among the requirements for the compensation are the vaccine must have no certificate of product registration from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the resulting causality assessment must be “vaccine product-related reaction” or “vaccine quality defect-related.”
“As long as hindi pa siya certified o nakakuha ng CPR. Kasi pag may CPR na sila, usually there is a traditional way na of resolving the issues on vaccines or other related products by the FDA natin.”
Under the law, the said package will last for five years or until March 2, 2026.
Meanwhile, Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire assured the public that there are still no deaths due to COVID-19 have been recorded for fully vaccinated individuals.
“Sa ngayon, atin pong binibigyan ng garantya ang ating mga kababayan na hanggang sa ngayon wala pang namamatay na fully vaccinated individual dito sa ating bansa as a result of COVID-19.”
