PhilHealth’s debit-credit payment OK’d in all critical, high risk areas to expedite payment to hospitals

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) approved on Thursday (April 22) the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) debit-credit payment method (DCPM) in all high risk and critical risk areas to facilitate the settlement of accounts payable to healthcare facilities.

The payment method was initially applied only in certain areas identified by the IATF-EID and the National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF) in the National Capital Region, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, and Rizal.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the hospitals in critical and high risk areas will be included in the prioritization of vaccine allocation, health resource deployment, and other Covid-19 responses.

In the same resolution, the IATF-EID ordered the NTF to intensify the monitoring of health care utilization rate through the use of the Feasibility Analysis of Syndromic Surveillance Using Spatio-Temporal Epidemiological Modeler for Early Detection of Diseases (FASSSTER) projections on target beds and human resources for health.

“The NTF shall further engage the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority [TESDA] to develop training and instructional materials of available Covid-19 response frameworks to enhance the enforcement of Covid-19 strategies at the barangay level,” Roque said.

Meanwhile, the IATF also approved the request of the Philippine National Police, through its Air Unit, to conduct Initial Type Rating Training for Pilots. – Report from Mela Lesmoras/AG-jlo
