Philippine Navy boosts monitoring in PH territories

The Philippine Navy on Tuesday (May 17) assured it will continue to intensify its monitoring in areas within the Philippine territory.

According to Rear Admiral Alberto Carlos, Philippine Fleet commander, the country continues to boost its forces to watch over the maritime territory of the country through the deployment of more assets, especially near Palawan.

“Ang aming short term goal ay to deploy more ships… Napakaraming demand for more deployment of naval assets all around the country,” he said in the Laging Handa briefing.

He said they are also intensifying its modernization program which will boost maritime patrols. New maritime vessels are also expected to arrive in the coming months.

He added that they are also improving their ship repair program to shorten turnaround time.

“Hopefully, we can have a more responsive ship repair program then mapaikli ang time na they stay with us for repair,” he said.

Aside from this, Carlos said the Philippine Navy is also busy participating in the country’s fight against COVID-19. Among the recent efforts of the navy is the assistance to community pantries, which he said has “already helped 3,000 families in [their] area.” – Report from Kenneth Paciente/AG-rir
