A higher number of volcanic earthquakes was logged in the Mayon Volcano within the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Saturday, July 1.
Sixty-five volcanic quakes were recorded in Mayon Volcano, the highest recorded since June 28.
The Phivolcs monitoring also saw a total of 254 rockfall events and 17 dome-collapse pyroclastic density current events.
Phivolcs likewise observed a very slow effusion of lava flow from the crater of Mayon and continued to emit on the areas of Mi-isi and Bonga Gullies with 2.23 and 1.3 kilometers length, respectively.
Phivolcs also recorded a collapse of lava inside the 3.3 km and 4 km of Basud gully.
Mayon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3. – gb
