Pilmico Foods and Aboitiz Foundation partner with DAR, provide poultry products and equipment to 4 farmers’ organizations in Capiz

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the province of Capiz, in partnership with Pilmico Foods and Aboitiz Foundation, has turned over two (2) sets of egg machines, ninety-six (96) read-to-lay chickens, egg weighing scale, and feeds good for a month, with a total project cost of P441,880.00 to four (4) agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) in this province.

Dubbed as “Project Omelette,” the recipient-ARBOs include the Calitan Multipurpose Cooperative (MPC), Brgy. Tapulang MPC, ARC of New Guia, and Yating United Farmers Association.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II Anthony Arostique in his message said this livelihood assistance would generate additional income for the cooperatives and would also benefit the agrarian reform beneficiary (ARB)-members.

“They are fortunate to receive this project during this unprecedented time of Covid-19 crisis. This encourages our ARBOs to maximize their profit,” Arostique said.

Further, he added that the cooperatives shall shed an amount to further replicate the project and to capitalize their income to venture on other income-generating projects.

In an earlier agreement sealed between the DAR, Pilmico Foods and various ARBOs, livelihood assistance consisting of egg machine kits worth Php1.3 million, will be provided to DAR-assisted ARBOs in the area.

PARPO I Alona Albances gave words of encouragement to the recipient cooperatives to ensure proper management of the project to be able to sustain and maximize the use of the project.

“It will be the responsibility of the ARBOs to ensure the continuity of the project for it to be beneficial to the ARB-members,’’ Albances said.

Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Lea Ubierna said that they would work hand-in-hand to attain the goal of providing the farmer-beneficiaries with a sustainable society to uplift their economic lives.

“The joint efforts will be a work in progress for the department and ARBOs to uplift the lives of the ARB members,” she said. (DAR) -rir
