The Philippine National Police is 100% prepared to secure the last State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Monday (July 26), PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said.
The National Capital Region Police Office has finalized the security preparations and deployment plans for the event, with the COVID-19 situation among the considerations in finalizing the security measures.
Some 15,000 police officers will be deployed to secure the Chief Executive’s SONA.
The PNP has not monitored any threat to the SONA, and Eleazar assured that all personnel are ready to respond to any eventuality.
The NCRPO has said it will use body-worn cameras to help monitor the movements of suspicious persons who may be planning to disrupt the SONA.
Eleazar asked for the public’s cooperation, urging groups planning to stage mass actions to conduct their activities virtually or online.
(PNP-PIO) – jlo
