The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that 40% of the police nationwide are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 while 47% received their first dose.

In a Laging Handa public briefing on Monday (Aug. 23), PNP Chief Police Gen. Guillermo Eleazar disclosed that 87% of the police force are now equipped with the vaccine against COVID-19.

So all in all 87% na iyong at least mayroong bakuna na.”

Eleazar said 52% of the police personnel in Metro Manila are fully vaccinated while 45% received their first jab. He said the organization aims to vaccinate the remaining 3% by the end of August.

“So a total of 97% at least mayroong isang vaccine na lang, iyong 3% na iyon. Ang hangad natin doon na at the end of this month ay lahat ay mayroon ng vaccine, the same manner hahabulin din natin iyong 87% na iyon sa buong Pilipinas,” he said.

In relation to this, the PNP chief disclosed that 98.4% of their personnel out of 222,000 are willing to be vaccinated based on their online continuing survey while 1.6% are not willing due to their “own personal reasons.”

“By the way, doon sa aming online continuing survey ay 98.4% ng aming personnel out of the 222,000 personnel namin ay willing magpabakuna.

Meanwhile, the PNP said 14.1% of its population were infected by COVID-19. Eleazar disclosed that a total of 31,492 police officers have acquired COVID-19. He bared that their active cases are 1,846 or 5.5% of the infected population and 100 or 0.3% fatality were recorded within the police force.

Eleazar said despite a high number of COVID-19 cases, the COVID-19 patients recover quickly.  -rir
