The Philippine National Police (PNP) urged the public to cooperate and strictly observe the public health standards following the threat of the COVID-19 Delta variant.
In a statement, PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar warned against the situation in India due to the Delta variant.
He emphasized that the safety of the country lies in the hands of each Filipinos, urging them to follow the minimum health standards set by the national government.
Eleazar assured that the PNP is ready should President Duterte decide to implement stricter quarantine measures due to the threat of the more transmissible variant.
The PNP Chief reported that he has tasked all police offices and units to “coordinate closely with their respective local government units (LGUs)” to come up with stringent measures to curb the spread of the variant.
