MANILA — Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Director General Oscar Albayalde on Wednesday lauded the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), headed by District Director, Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel, for maintaining peace and order in a highly populated city in Metro Manila.

“It is certainly not easy maintaining peace and order in a highly populated area like Quezon City, but as we have seen, the QCPD under the hardworking District Director, Police Chief Supt. Esquivel is indeed doing a good job,” Albayalde told QCPD personnel during the 79th Founding Anniversary of the police district at Camp Karingal, Quezon City.

National Capital Region Police Office chief, Police Director Guillermo Eleazar and other PNP key officers, Quezon City local government officials also graced the event.

Albayalde said QCPD personnel’s achievements this past year speak well of their courage, determination and outstanding capabilities as Quezon City’s servants and protectors.

“We celebrate today not only the history, the hardwork and achievements of QCPD, but also its strong and meaningful partnership with the community which is aptly reflected in the anniversary theme: “Nagkakaisang Kapulisan at Mamamayan, Sandigan ng Ligtas at Payapang Bayan,” he noted.

He stressed that in the past two years, the PNP have attained a continuing downtrend in crime volume and crime victimization which no less than the Social Weather Station has reported from its recent survey results as the PNP recognizes the significant role of the community in making this possible.

Meanwhile, Esquivel said this year’s celebration was highlighted by series of activities for the past days such as blood-letting program, QCPD Got Talent, Battle of Police Bands, Media Night and Recognition, Mr. and Ms. QCPD Pageant and Land Transportation Office Caravan.

Albayalde led the giving of plaque of recognition (Karingal Awards) to outstanding QCPD personnel and units, government and non-government individuals and entities who contributed to the overall success of the plans and programs of police district.
