CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, has personally presented to city prosecutor office the suspected killer of a 20-year old store cashier in Santa Rosa City.
Dela Rosa presented on Tuesday to Biñan City Prosecutor Agripino C. Baybay III suspect Richie Amar Oliveros for inquest proceedings in connection with the killing of Kimberly Sanchez, a cashier at the Under Armour Store at Nuvali in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, whose cadaver was found in an apartment on March 3, 2018
The PNP chief came Biñan City Tuesday to personally take action on the Kimberly Sanchez murder case before visiting the policemen, who were wounded in action during police encounter with five suspected kidnappers, confined at the San Pablo City Medical Center.
Dela Rosa’s prompt response to the case stemmed from reports on Sanchez’ slay when the victim’s father sought help from the PNP Chief through social media that went viral.
“This case bothered me because the father of the victim personally sought help from me so I personally gave instruction to (Calabarzon Police) Regional Director Aplasca for the solution of the case,” the Chief PNP said.
Kimberly last reported for work on March 1, 2018 and had lost contact with her family for nearly two days until Kimberly’s mother Liza discovered her daughter’s body on the morning of March 3, 2018 at the Francis Home Subdivision apartment in Barangay Platero in Biñan City.
An autopsy report revealed that the victim sustained stab wounds in the head which caused her death.
For more than a month later on April 6, 2018, suspect Oliveros, accompanied by his sister, appeared at the office of the Regional Detection and Management Division (RDMD) in this camp headquarters here where he voluntary surrendered.
Turning himself in to Police Senior Inspector Fernando Credo of “Pulis Detektib” at the Police Regional Office (PRO4A), Oliveros executed his Extra-Judicial Confession assisted by a lawyer,
Further investigation disclosed that the suspect, a neighbor of Kimberly, admitted that he took the victim’s mobile phone which was also missing at the time Kimberly’s body was found at the apartment.
The suspect also said he gave the mobile phone to his brother who was in Oriental Mindoro.
Police investigation further revealed that a heated argument between Oliveros and Kimberly has led to the killing.
Oliveros was reportedly incensed at the time his motorcycle fell to the ground when it was accidentally banged by a steel door when Kimberly tried to open it. (Saul Pa-a/PNA)
