MANILA, Aug. 2 — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Ronald dela Rosa, late Wednesday deployed additional operatives to Ozamiz City to forestall possible revenge attacks by sympathizers and allies of the city’s slain mayor, Reynaldo Parojinog.

Dela Rosa said he has ordered the deployment of a force to back up the Ozamiz City Police, aside from the installation of checkpoints in all entry and exit points in the area.

These pre-emptive measures were undertaken by the PNP after concerned individuals reported the sighting of two large bancas filled with armed men, shortly after the raid that killed Parojinog, his wife Susan, and 13 others inside their home in San Roque Lawis, Ozamiz City early last July 30.

Dela Rosa said they are not discounting the possibility of revenge attacks as the slain Parojinog belongs to a large syndicate, aside from being a well-known politician in Ozamiz City.

He however said that at the moment, they have yet to detect any security threat in Ozamiz City following Sunday’s bloody raid. (Priam F. Nepomuceno/PNA)
