PNP chief tasks cops to help with ‘intensified’ COVID-19 info campaign

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar has tasked police chiefs to assist in an intensified information dissemination campaign on vaccination and the rules on the quarantine alert level system and granular lockdown, especially now that the vaccination of those under the A5 category is allowed.

Eleazar instructed police personnel to assist in educating the public about the importance of the government’s inoculation program, particularly the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

The A5 category includes the indigent population not otherwise included in the preceding categories.

Meanwhile, Eleazar also tasked the National Capital Region Police Office to strengthen its information campaign about the enforcement of the new alert level system and the granular lockdown to avoid confusion among the public.

He recently directed Metro Manila cops to be familiar with the new guidelines for its orderly enforcement.

The PNP chief stressed the importance of being well-informed in this time of pandemic wherein fake news, especially on social media, has been prevalent.

(PNP-PIO) – jlo
