MANILA — Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and his wife acted as sponsors to 19 police couples who tied the knot in Camp Crame, Quezon City Tuesday.

This took place during the annual “Kasalang Bayan 2018” organized by the PNP Chaplain Service headed by its director, Senior Supt. Rev. Fr. Jason D. Ortizo and Supt. Rev. Fr. Ronie B. Arong, Catholic Base Chaplain.

The event was part of the celebration of the 27th PNP founding anniversary, wherein police personnel are given a free wedding, complete with reception.

“This mass wedding expresses the commitment of the Chaplain Service in transforming from within all our PNP personnel with sound moral and spiritual values, and the most important value that inspires our PNP personnel to render public service is the value of a loving family that begins during matrimony,” Arong said.

Most Rev. Oscar Jaime Llaneta Florencio, DD, Apostolic Administrator of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines, solemnized the mass wedding, which he co-celebrated with the Catholic Chaplains of the PNP-CHS at the St. Joseph Chapel in Camp Crame, Quezon City at about 8 a.m..

Ortizo said police officers should not only be effective and efficient in maintaining peace and order in their stations but should also be responsible, God-fearing and a loving husband/wife and father/mother to his/her children.

We should make our personnel feel that their family’s condition is important to us so we came up with programs showing our concern for their families, such as this mass wedding),” he added.
