PNP to cooperate with NBI in probe of Arnaiz, de Guzman killings

MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is willing to help the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) which was tasked by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to investigate the deaths of 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz and his 14-year-old-companion, Reynaldo de Guzman.

“The PNP will extend all possible assistance and support to NBI in the investigation of the Arnaiz and de Guzman slay cases as ordered by PRRD,” PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos said Thursday.

He added that this should preclude any perception of biased and undue influence by the PNP.

Arnaiz left his home in Cainta, Rizal last Aug. 17 and was found dead 10 days later in a funeral parlor in Caloocan City.

Caloocan police reports claimed he robbed a taxi driver in early hours of Aug. 18 and fired at responding policemen.

Meanwhile, de Guzman, the last person seen with Arnaiz, was found dead with at least 30 stab wounds in Gapan, Nueva Ecija early Tuesday. (PNA)
