PNP: Cops involved in abuse of women to face charges

The Philippine National Police (PNP) warned its personnel that those engaged in abusing women amid the health crisis will face charges, following reports that some policemen in checkpoints allegedly offer “sex for pass” to women.

PNP Spokesperson PBGen. Bernard Banac disclosed that information on the matter are being validated and such illegal activities are not tolerated.

“Ang PNP ay gumagalang sa mga kababaihan at nagsusulong tayo ng paggalang sa karapatan ng mga kababaihan (The PNP respects women and is espousing the respect for women’s rights),” Banac emphasized.

Meanwhile, PNP Chief PGen. Archie Gamboa said the PNP “encourages victims or interested persons with information to share, to come out” so they can “investigate and take appropriate action against erring cops.”

“The moment a police officer commits a crime, he stops being an officer of the law and becomes a criminal, a sexual predator,” Gamboa added.
