PNP Custodial Center Chief sacked over sexual assault charges

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has dismissed its Custodial Center Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Jigger Noceda after former Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog filed sexual assault charges against him.

PLt. Col. Jigger Noceda allegedly molested former Vice Mayor Parojinog twice. The first incident was on June 9 when Noceda called Parojinog in his office and kissed the victim. The second incident occurred on September 7 in the same location which finally pushed Parojinog’s camp to file a complaint against the official.

Noceda was charged at the Quezon City Prosecutors Office on Wednesday with attempted rape, act of lasciviousness, unjust vexation, and violation of the Safe Spaces Act.

Parojinog’s lawyer, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, explained that he was initially informed of the incident by Parojinog’s child. They have not immediately filed a complaint considering the fact that Parojinog was in prison and fearing that the victim might be abused due to their action.

However, the former vice mayor’s camp is now prepared to fight it out in court and provide evidences to the police.

Meanwhile, Noceda is under restrictive custody of the PNP Headquarters Support Service while the investigation of the case is ongoing at the PNP Women and Children Protection Center (PNP-WCPC). The PNP-WCPC has also assured that Parojinog will undergo counseling after the incidents.

PNP Spokesperson Police Colonel Ysmael Yu has strongly denounced that “this act is not a virtue of a police being responsible, respected and disciplined. It will be dealt with accordingly.”
