PNP-HPG slaps tickets to motorists parking in bike lanes

The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) reminded motorists not to park in designated bicycle lanes.

The PNP-HPG issued a ticket to drivers caught parking on the said lanes in Quezon City, Wednesday morning, with violations such as “road obstruction” and “disregarding of traffic sign.” Their licenses were also confiscated.

The PNP-HPG stated that the right of the bicycle riders to use the road must be respected. Bicycle lanes are constructed to address the lack of transportation due to the threat of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Cyclists were also reminded to follow traffic rules and ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, the local government of Quezon City plans to add 161 kilometers to the city’s existing 55-km lanes. – Report from Patrick de Jesus
