PNP logs 70 COVID-19-related deaths

A total of 70 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) have succumbed to COVID-19, according to the latest report from the PNP Health Service (PNPHS) on June 9.

The PNP Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the latest fatality is a 34-year-old police corporal assigned in PNP-SAF (Special Action Force) stationed at Surigao del Sur who passed away on June 7. 

“Sa araw-araw na pakikipaglaban ng ating mga pulis sa naturang sakit, ang liderato ng PNP ay nagsusumikap na bigyan ng kaukulang pansin ang pagbabakuna para sa ating mga pulis”, Eleazar said. 

As of June 9, the PNPHS recorded an additional 126 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total cases to 25,190 with 1,756 active cases.

Meanwhile, at least 23,364 police personnel have recovered from COVID-19. – rir
