The Philippine National Police (PNP) is on heightened alert in line with the 53rd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) Sunday, Dec. 26.
In a statement, PNP Chief. Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the CPP and the New People’s Army are “known to stage armed offensive actions” on such dates.
The PNP maneuver forces, Special Action Force, and the 17 Regional Mobile Force Battalions have been prepared nationwide. PNP units currently assisting on relief operations were also alerted of possible attacks.
Meanwhile, the national police said it is prepared to assist in the distribution of cash aid to typhoon victims following President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to tap uniformed personnel. (PTV News)/AG – bny
