PNP to deploy 40K police on Election Day

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy 40,000 personnel to ensure peace and safety during the national elections on May 9.

PNP Chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the authorities are monitoring areas with reported political rivalries.

“Ang dinagdag natin dyan isang platoon ng pulis to the southernmost part of the Bondoc Peninsula kasi malayo to prevent ang untoward incident,” Carlos said.

PNP listed 120 areas in the country under area of concern, while 88 election-related incidents were documented from January 9 to April 17 from Regions I, III, IX, and Cordillera province. – Report from Bea Bernardo/GC – gb
