PNP uses body cams in quarantine checkpoints

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now using its procured body cameras in monitoring the quarantine checkpoints.

On the fifth day of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila, the national police continue to conduct security adjustments in order to ensure the safety of everyone amid the Delta variant threat in the country.

With this, PNP Chief Police Gen. Guillermo Eleazar ordered the use of the body cameras by police officers deployed at the checkpoints.

The body cams are connected to the command center in their headquarters in Camp Crame where real time videos are transmitted. The device will also greatly help in aiding the police quickly if conflict arises.

Meanwhile, the PNP also offers rotating free rides for authorized persons outside residences (APOR) in the following areas from 5:00 a.m to 9:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.:

  •         Central Terminal (Manila City Hall) to Quezon Avenue MRT 3 and vice-versa;
  •         Camp Crame to “Tungko” San Jose Del Monte Bulacan (via Commonwealth Ave.) and vice-versa;
  •         Camp Crame to Rodriguez Rizal (via Litex) and vice-versa;
  •         Camp Crame to Taytay (via Ortigaz) and vice-versa;
  •         Camp Crame to Meycauayan, Bulacan (via Mc Arthur Highway) and vice versa;
  •         Camp Crame to Antipolo City and vice-versa;
  •         Pasay to Monumento (EDSA) North Bound and vice-versa;
  •         Monumento to Pasay Taft (EDSA) South Bound and vice-versa;
  •         Camp Crame to Zapote, Bacoor, Cavite and vice-versa; and
  •         Camp Crame to Novaliches and vice-versa.

The PNP reminds the APORs to bring valid IDs and documents to serve as proof that they are authorized to go outside.
