PNP vows swift action on cops in Bulacan ‘gang rape’

MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed swift action on the alleged involvement of policemen in a brutal sexual attack of a pregnant woman in Bulacan.

“The PNP does not condone wrongdoings of rogue police personnel. (An) investigation is now being conducted on these incidents. Appropriate criminal and administrative charges shall be filed againts those involved as warranted by evidence or testimonies. Nonetheless due process will be observed,” PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. John Bulalacao said.

“We appeal to the public to report erring cops as we continue our efforts in cleansing our ranks. Those who will be found guilty shall be punished and dismissed,” he added.

Reports said the 29-year-old victim was collecting payment for her small loans business in a house in Barangay Bangkal in Meycauayan, Bulacan when a group of policemen conducting an anti-drug operation entered it.

The four policemen then allegedly raped her inside the house.

PO2 Jefferson Landrito, P01 Marlo delos Santos, and PO1 Jeremy Aquino were positively identified by the victim while the fourth suspect remains unknown. The policemen had already denied the accusation.

Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat, Jr., Bulacan Provincial Police Director, has also vowed an impartial investigation on the case. (PNA)
