POEA suspends deployment of healthcare workers

By Christine Fabro

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration issued a temporary suspension of deployment of new hire nurses, nursing aides, and nurse assistants on June 4.

The Advisory No. 71 S 2021 states that the processing and issuance of overseas employment certificates and the deployment of new hires for healthcare workers are suspended effective immediately.

It also said that healthcare workers who were already issued with their corresponding overseas employment certificates, however, are allowed to depart for their overseas employment.

According to POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia, the suspension was because the annual deployment ceiling of 5,000 new hires for healthcare workers has already been reached as of date. -rir
