Police, military verifying NPA raid in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The police and military are still verifying a raid allegedly made by the New People’s Army (NPA) in a company owned by Chinese tycoon in the City of San Jose del Monte, this province.

In a statement issued by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) on its website, it said “ The NPA forces in Mt. Sierra Madre-Southern Tagalog under Rosario Lodronio Rosal Command (RLRC-NPA-Mt. Sierra Madre-Southern Tagalog Sub-Regional Command) congratulates the red fighters and commanders of NPA-Bulacan in their successful raid against the armed goons of Chinese tycoon Lucio Tan in Barangay Ciudad Real, San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan.”

The NPA team had reportedly carried out the raid between 11 a.m. and 12 noon Wednesday and had carted “seven firearms, including five long firearms and two .9mm pistols with bullets.”

Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, regional police director for Central Luzon, and Maj. Gen. Felimon Santos, commanding general of the 7th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, said they are still verifying the report.

On the other hand, Lt. Col. Arnel Cabugon, commander of the 48th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, said that as of 1:00 p.m. on Friday the Bulacan police and the 80th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army have yet to confirm if there was really such an incident.

“Baka propaganda lang yan ( maybe it is just a propaganda), ” Cabugon said.

On the other hand, Supt. Fitz Macariola, police chief of the City of San Jose del Monte, said that no one has reported anything about the incident and added that the company is located in the mountainous part of the city bordering the province of Rizal that is hard to access and is being guarded by a security agency.
