Police raid CPP-NPA armory in Laguna

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) along with local police units of CALABARZON confiscated various high-powered firearms, ammunition and explosives in Laguna on Tuesday.

PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas said a suspected “armourer” of the CPP-NPA Special Partisan Unit (SPARU) was the subject of a Search Warrant when police operatives conducted a search in Barangay Market Area, Sta Rosa, Laguna at 6:30AM on orders of Hon. Charito M. Macalintal-Sawali, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 66 of Tanauan City, Batangas who issued Search Warrant Nos. 2021-14 for violation of R.A. 10591, and 2021- 15 for violation of R.A. 9516, against respondent Maritess Santos David alias Teacher Laly.

The respondent was not present, but the orderly search was witnessed by Barangay officials who duly acknowledged the inventory of seized weapons and war materiel that includes: One M1 cal. 30 carbine; One M2 cal.30 automatic carbine; One Bushmaster rifle; One (1) unit M16 ELISCO Rifle; Three Cal .45 Pistols; 38 rounds of live ammunition; Nine rounds of 40mm grenade; 15 Pieces of Improvised Anti-personnel mine; One Improvised Anti-troop carrier mine; Three pieces improvised Claymore Mine; One (1) pc Claymore mine; One (1) unit Laptop (SAMSUNG) with charger; Four (4) pcs Envelope containing Subversive Documents and streamers; and Different materials for making IED such as wires, switches, blasting caps and detonating cord.

Among CPP-NPA documents found by the search team were 19 CPP-NPA-NDF internal publications and training materials on fundamental communist course, and advanced revolutionary warfare.

Also found among the cache of weapons were several subversive streamers and campaign paraphernalia.

The discovery of this clandestine communist terrorist armory bolsters earlier assessment by CIDG that the CPP-NPA is maintaining staging areas and weapons storage in CALABARZON for its urban hit squads to launch attacks in Metro Manila, Sinas said.

The confiscated SUBVERSIVE DOCUMENTS contain materials with topics and discussions on the history/founding of CPP-NPA and Democratic Fronts with the following titles/topics:
