Power, water interruptions in 3 Dumaguete villages on June 2

DUMAGUETE CITY — Residents in three barangays here have expressed concern over the scheduled simultaneous outage of power and water supply on June 2, as announced by the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative (NORECO II) and the Dumaguete City Water District (DCWD).

The villages which will be experiencing a halt in both water and power services are Barangays Cantil-e, Bajumpandan, and Banilad.

Separate notices were sent out to the public early this week on the power and the water service interruptions in a number of barangays in this city.

NORECO II, headed by its General Manager, Lawyer Fe Marie Dicen Tagle, announced that there will be no electricity supply in Dumaguete City and the nearby towns of Valencia and Bacong on Sunday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Feeders 2, 7, 8, and 9 in the Bagacay Sub-station will be shut down.

Areas to be affected by the power interruption include Feeder 2: Banilad, Sacsac (Old SPI) and Suludpan in Bacong; Bong-ao and East Balabag in Valencia; Bagacay, Bajumpandan, Banilad, Canday-ong, Cadawinonan, Calindagan, Cantil-e, Junob, Mangnao, Tabuc-tubig and Talay in Dumaguete City;

Affected by the shutdown of Feeder 7: Colon Ext., Colon St., Legaspi St., Locsin St., Ma. Christina St., Lower Lukewright, Pinili St., Public Market Area, Saint Louis Village, Sta. Rosa St. and Tinago in Dumaguete City;

Feeder 8: Batinguel, Cervantes St., Ciriaco Espina St., Locsin St. (ACSAT area), Meciano Rd., Perpetual Church area, San Jose Ext., Taclobo, Real St. and portion of Perdices St. in Dumaguete City; and, Feeder 9: Robinsons Mall, Go Hotel and BGComm Building in Dumaguete City.

Meanwhile, the DCWD also announced that there will be a water service interruption from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on the same day, and barangays to be affected are Cantil-e, Bajumpandan, and Banilad.

DCWD said that this is “in line with the announcement of NORECO II regarding its power service interruption that day because one of the areas to be affected by the power interruption is Barangay Cantil-e where the DCWD Pumping Station 11 is located.”

The water district said that it had encountered a problem with its standby generator and is still awaiting the arrival of spare parts.

Because of this, the three cited barangays would have low pressure to no water supply on Sunday.
