PPA opens largest passenger terminal building

By Christine Fabro

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Monday, March 27, opened the largest passenger terminal in the country at the Port of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro.

According to PPA General Manager Jay Santiago, the expanded passenger terminal building (PTB) will be able to serve 3,500 passengers at any time, compared to its previous total capacity of 1,600.

He added that the operations of the new PTB will help in accommodating the anticipated influx of passengers during peak seasons.

The Port Management Office said around 3,000 to 4,000 passengers flock to the Port of Calapan daily. – gb
