PRC to celebrate World First Aid Day 2021 virtually

Recognizing the importance of basic first aid skills, the Philippine Red Cross is set to conduct a webinar in celebration of World First Aid Day (WFAD) this September 11, 2021, with the theme “Be a First Aid Hero at School and in Your Community.”

“Basic first aid skills are really very important and making it accessible to all is an important humanitarian act and is therefore a crucial must. The PRC is finding ways to reach more people and to fulfill the goal of having one first aider per household. We are encouraging everyone to be that first aid hero in your family, in your school and in your community,” says PRC Chairman and CEO, Sen. Dick Gordon.

Since the commemoration of WFAD is an opportunity to promote and advocate for first aid knowledge and skills for the wider public, the webinar aims to reach more people especially now that conducting face-to-face first aid training is not advisable as gatherings are still against protocol.

This pandemic has made learning first aid a lot challenging and the PRC has adjusted to the new normal by bringing this life-saving training online. Having first aid skills enhances an individual’s capacity to take swift action to reduce or stabilize serious injuries and to improve a casualty’s chance of survival and in this webinar, the PRC – Safety Services will discuss certain first aid modifications in response to COVID-19, with the materials leaning towards a young age friendly audience and its community.

Dr. Teodoro Herbosa and Sen. Gordon will be guest speakers of the WFAD virtual seminar.

The PRC opens this webinar for interested individuals who can register thru this link: https://forms.gle/h32692NL6sBSseFc8
