Prelate asks prayers for those affected by Hurricane ‘Lane’

MANILA — The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Migrant and Itinerant People (CBCP-ECMI) on Friday asked overseas chaplains and diocesan ministries to pray and offer holy masses for safety of those affected by Hurricane “Lane” in Hawaii, USA.

“It is time of solidarity and support, as we CBCP-ECMI, requested our overseas chaplains and diocesan ministries to pray and offer holy masses for safety of those affected by hurricane Lane in Hawaii,” CBCP-ECMI chairman Bishop Ruperto Santos said in an interview.

“We implore God’s help that lives and livelihood would be spared,” he added.

At the same time, the Bataan prelate urged Filipinos in Hawaii to follow the advisories from authorities for their safety and security.

“We appeal to our kababayan to stay safe and secure, follow to the letter the civil authorities instructions and guidelines,” he said.

“In this moment of uncertainty and I times of calamities, we resort to prayers and trust God all the more,” Santos added.

Reports revealed that hurricane “Lane” on Thursday has brought heavy rains in the island. The storm expected to bring more rains in Hawaii this weekend. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
